World Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration

On 01 June 2026, the Development and Justice Initiative (DAJI), Abhayapuri, organized a World Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration at Hatiyar Ghar, Dharmapur, Abhayapuri, under the global theme “Together for a Period-Friendly World.” World Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed globally on 28 May each year. However, as the observance coincided with the festival, the programme was organized belatedly on 01 June 2026. The programme brought together women, adolescent girls, community members and invited guests to promote awareness on menstrual health, hygiene and dignity while encouraging open and informed discussions on menstruation. Resource persons from the legal, educational and social sectors shared valuable insights on menstrual health management, rights and dignity, hygiene practices, access to supportive facilities, mental well-being and the importance of challenging myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. Through interactive discussions, participant engagement activities and a collective pledge, the programme fostered greater awareness, encouraged healthy menstrual practices and reinforced the importance of creating supportive, inclusive and period-friendly communities where menstruation can be discussed openly and without stigma.
